The James Korey Photography project began as a submission for a portrait photographer's logo in 2015.

My ideation started with the concept of using the camera lens as the foundation of the logo. I also hooked onto the phrase "Watch the birdie." I chose to create an icon of the toy bird to incorporate as an element in the design, referencing the portraiture aspect of the photographer’s specialty.

The elements of a camera lens are used to create edges and elements of the business card and marketing and packaging materials.

My grandfather’s mustache is evident in the swooshes at either side of the birdie and they are repeated to create a background pattern. The elements of a camera lens are used to create edges and elements of the business card and marketing and packaging materials. Shadows give evidence of the dimensions of a lens. Colors are limited and subdued, with Kraft paper tag envelopes as reminiscent of days gone by.

I wished to convey the thoughts that these old photos brought up in me. That a photographer can create present-day images that evoke an historic mood. That people, our family, our homes. traditions, and occasions hold echos of the past.
